Ageworks.com is divided into three main areas:

1. Interactive Textbooks

Several of the Andrus Gerontology Center's online courses are now available to license for course work at other universities. Complete with interactive exercises and online readings, these "Electronic Textbooks" can be used as self-contained curriculum or incorporated into existing courses.

2. Online Courses

Our interactive web-based Master of Arts in Gerontology (MAG) and Graduate Certificate in Gerontology are specifically designed to meet the needs of busy professionals involved in the care of elderly. Online students have the convience of attending classes from their homes on their own schedules. These courses take full advantage of the electronic medium to create a robust learning environment which includes self-quizzes, web searches, interactive excercises, electronic library access, simulators, chat room discussions and weekly interchanges by E-mail with the professor.

If you have a computer, a web connection and a desire to earn we will provide you with the software and simple instructions you will need to set-up your own virtual classroom. Coursework can be accessed anytime 24 hours a day and students spend an average of approximately 10-15 hours a week on coursework. You receive a similar amount of class instructor contact time as students in our on-the-ground courses.

3. Continuing Education Modules

Nutrition:
This interactive, multimedia course will introduce you to the specific nutritional needs of aging Americans. The emphasis is on six crucially important areas of nutrition for healthy aging: antioxidants, fiber and fluids, less fat, strong bones, your heart, and weight and longevity. The course will also include an introduction and the Dean's Formula (Ed Snhneider), a list of recommended vitamins, minerals, fiber and fluids needed for successful aging.

Vision: Produced with the Dohny Eye Clinics
This interactive, multimedia course will introduce you to the specific vision changes of aging Americans. The emphasis is on four crucially important aspects of aging vision: how we see, the aging eye, major eye diseases. The course will also include examples of eye examinations. The module will conclude with the Dean's Formula (Steve Ryan), a guideline on how to care for your vision as you age.

Hearing: Produced with the House Ear Institute
This interactive, multimedia module will introduce you to the specific hearing changes of aging Americans. The emphasis is on four crucially important aspects of aging hearing: how we hear, hearing evaluation, age hearing changes, psychological effects. The module will include video of a general hearing exam. The module will conclude with an auditory rehab, which will show how to fix hearing damage that has already been done AgeWorks is currently developing several other interactive Learning Modules.
