Tai Chi

Tai Chi has been referred to as yoga in motion. There are a number of forms which consist of a sequence of martial arts movements that often mimic the natural movements of animals and birds. The forms are slowly performed, softly and gracefully with smooth transitions between them. The practice of Tai Chi exercises is a practical way to maintain and improve your balance, alignment, fine-scale motor control, rhythm of movement, and so on. You can learn more about the movements by clicking on the link for the Tai Chi and Wushu Club at Stanford University

After a 15 week program of Tai Chi, the percentage of falls for the Tai Chi group was 50 percent lower in a group of seniors ages 70 and above, Tai Chi participants also had significantly less fear of falling.
